female with low hormone level

Hi everyone,

I am 32 soon to be 33 yr. old female. I have had 5 miscarriages in the past. I went to see a new doctor a couple of months ago. The doctor did a blood test and a week later she told me my hormone level was only nine. Does anyone know what a normal level for a female hormone level should be? Could it be from the hydrocephaulas I have had 28 revisions in less than two years. The neurosurgeon even did a craniotony two months ago. So can the shunts effect my hormone level? As you will see by the chart, there are many different hormones and their normal values differ.

I find it hard to imagine that a shunt could cause hormones to be off. I think it is much more likely to be something more common. LOTS of women without hydrocephalus have this problem. That being said, I'm not a doctor. I think the person you need to ask is your doctor: ask him/her which hormones are low, what the possible causes are, and what can be done to improve them. And don't hesitate to ask about the shunt & particularly your recent surgery; it seems possible that going under anesthesia could affect hormones.
