I recieved a free childrens book by calling. It came today. My 8 yr old found it interesting. She read it for a little bit. Sarah is too young for it now, but later she'll like it.

:)It's a very nice book and a very good suggestion for new parents. My daughter is an adult now and I recollected all those yester days again as I went through the book. Being a mother I found it difficult to take care of her as I had no knowledge of such defect. But I felt much relieved to realise that I have not left any stone unmoved. The book is of great help to new parents.:)

I'm confused. Is it a book for the child or is it for the parents?

Sorry for the confusion dodger67. The book is for the children absolutely but it will help parents also.

It should be a cheaper call if someone has a cell phone(they do need to know their plan of course). The email address is just for the on-line version of the book. You could print it yourself. I do not know of a way to order it on line. It is provided through the state of California (deeply in debt I might add), but it is a nice book. The book is called "Right Under My Nose"
It even has a section on how to answer questions your child might ask about his/her SB.
Call for it: (323)361-7079 It's free.
Or print it yourself:

I ordered the book "Right Under My Nose" for my 4 1/2 yr old and she has requested I read it every night at bedtime since we recieved it a few weeks ago. She was excited and said "just like me!".

:happy065: Awwwe, that's so cute. I'm glad she likes it. I know little kids feel special when there's a book to read that is about them. I think it makes them feel more included, not alone. Feeling as, 'if there's a book about it, there must be others with this'. I cannot wait to share it with Sarah when she's a little older.

I was able to download and print the book right from my computer. It is awesome. Sam brought it into his classroom and read it to his friends. This helped them understand his disability. We also made a dog like the one in book. We put a shunt in the dog and put scars on the dog. i then put Sam's first pair of afo's on the dog and placed him in our build a bear wheelchair. It was so educational for his classmates as well as some of their parents who requested to read the book also. We will do this again next school year.
