My older brother, he's 29 now, has spina bifida and my mom and I are trying to find a spina bifida clinic in los angeles that serves adults. He used to always go to the one at Children's Hospital but he's obviously too old to go there anymore. I'm getting really worried about him because he doesn't seem to take any initiative towards making sure he is healthy. We recently had a scare with some pressure sores on his legs and my mom and I just really need to find a good clinic that he can go to regularly and get everything checked out. Please let me know if you know of anything. Thanks so much!

Here's a link to the Spina Bifida Association's list of SB clinics in the US. There's a listing for one in San Bernardino that specifies "adults" -- most of the others are at children's hospitals. I would recommend calling all of the ones that are not at children's hospitals, even if it would mean a long drive.

This is a HUGE problem all over the US and probably elsewhere, too. For some reason, the medical profession seems to believe that everyone with spina bifida drops dead or is miraculously cured on their 18th birthday.
