my 2.5 week old had a shunt placed day one...and we have noticed at times there seems to be fluid surrounding the entire shunt line in his head...the dr last week told us it can be positional and as long as it returns to its previous "normal" shape and there are no other signs/symptoms it should be fine...we are scheduled for a ct scan to double check things in 2 weeks. however ALL DAY today there has been this fluid collection and it doesn't seem to matter what position he's in. he's also really fussy and having a real hard time napping. i'm on the edge of freaking out wondering if something is wrong. our dr is 4 hours away and i plan on calling in the morning....could this be something serious? is this normal? i feel so clueless and just plain WORRIED right now.

Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. It sounds to me like you have reason to worry (although I'm no expert on shunts). I would insist on the ct right away instead of in two weeks.

If you haven't taken him in yet, do so! He needs a CT Scan ASAP!

Valmarie, it's normal for you to worry about it.
How's your baby right now? I'll pray for your
baby. Good luck!
