My mom still has my casts from when i was a little baby and i am in my 30's. (i came home with them from the hospital at 17 days old) I am not sure how long i wore them but i will ask my mom and let you know) After the casts i got the corrective shoes which had the bar attatched to it to try and correct my hips. I know it worked great for my right foot but didnt' work for my left. So when i was 5 or 6 years old i had surgery to correct the left foot and you can't tell it was ever clubbed at all!!!! Now all these years later you can't even find a hint of a scar. I spent 3 months in a leg cast from hip to foot when that was done no more worries. I could wear whatever shoes i wanted and i never had another problem.
It is funny about my mom she still has the body cast (one of them) the leg cast from the club foot surgery, my first pair of crutches, my first pair of full body braces. I showed my husband all of this stuff last time we were down to visit my family. It is just so wierd looking back because in some ways it seems like all that happened to someone else eventhough i remember most of it clearly.

I had surgery on both feet.I could never touch my heels to the ground while standing. They had made horizontal slits in the achilles tendons that ran up from the back of my heel, broke the bones that run from your ankle to the toes and added plates and screws. They then forced my foot so it would be parallel to the ground and then put a cast on it.
When the casts came off some 12 or so weeks later I could finally touch my heels to the ground but now my toes were pointing upward. They operated on each foot at separate times. When the first foot had healed they then worked on the other.
It improved my walking 100% but the muscle tone in the calf is thin and partially atrophied.I can wrap my hand around the middle of my calves and touch my middle finger to my thumb.I had my foot surgeries at around the age of 12.Walking was now much easier and with alot less of a hop in my gait.
I never kept any of my casts as by the time they came off they were really badly damaged. They also stank really bad from the dried blood and all. They actually had to replace my casts frequently as I was a really rambunctious kid and they would never last long.

my Zoe had casts on for about 10 weeks. They did the heel cord tenotomy on her right foot to bring it up instead of pointing done. if they say its needed, it is. she is now in the dobbs bar and is doing great. The casts didnt seem to phase Zoe at all. She was still my happy little baby and after about the second or third week she didnt even seem to mind them changing the casts.
:fyi: if you have any more questions let me know cause i just went through all of this a couple of weeks ago.
