Hi all..
We are gearing up for Analise's 2nd Kaye walker. There is one option,
in particular, that I'm really on the fence about and was hoping
someone could offer advice.

There is a seat option for Kaye walkers. Anyone have one? Analise wears
KAFOs and tends to crouch a lot when she gets tired. She basically just
hangs inside her walker. Her PT and I were thinking a seat may be a
good choice to help her out. My fear is that she may get lazy and just
want to use it all the time. Also since she wears KAFOs I'm wondering
if it would be more difficult to sit on the seat.

We're also considering the swivel wheels with limiters (so she could
only turn 180 degrees).. our PT feels she's definitely ready. But any
advice on this option is appreciated also.

Because everyone is different I think you should let her "test drive" the various options and see what works for her.

I agree with dodger let her test drive it. I know when i was a kid the ability to turn in my walker would have been AWESOME!!! I had a walker until i was 3 years old and i traded it in for forarm crutches because i was so limited in what i could do. I also think the seat would have been cool because sometimes you just need a rest and there is nowere to sit. I still run into that problem!!! See how she does with both and then you will know what to do!!

Gabi has the Kaye walker with the seat. She has been using that model for 6 years. She likes to hop up on the back of her walker to rest. Her teachers and school PT thought she would fall backwards (she never has) so they recomended this seat walker. Gabi would sit on the seat if there was a long wait in line or if she fatigued. Now she leans on the back of her walker for a rest. It is a good walker. She's always had full swivel wheels and her rear wheels have a lock so that she can't roll backwards.
