I just wanted to know if any body here has attention span problems that gives them a hard time doing things like driving or anything else

I don't have a hard time driving, but will not sit still in my wheelchair. My doctors look at me funny when I say I have never had a pressure sore on my behind. I move like crazy. I also will be doing something and then be distracted for a minute and forget what I was doing. Same goes with a conversation.

I don't know if this is relative, but I do know that Lizzie (6 yrs old) has a hard time with attention span. It does seem to be more than just her age. And I have read that people with SB often have an attention deficit.

I have seen articles that mention a link between Hydrocephalus and ADD.
A friend at school (AGES AGO!!! I'm old!) who had SB and HC had language problems. He spoke very slowly, it was really hard keeping myself from finishing his sentences for him. He would also have long pauses in mid sentence.
Like so: "Ummm, yes I saw Joe ummmm this morning (5 second break) he came around ummm to my place at (another 5 second pause) about ten."

I am the same way Dodger. I have had to fight to keep myself from finishing someone else's sentence.
If i find something in am interested in i can keep my attention on it but if it doesn't facinate me i am on to other things.
My son and my husband complain because when they are watching tv i am cleaning or doing something. I can't sit and stare at a TV or i will go to sleep every time. Used to be an arguing point in my marriage but now he knows that it happens even if it is something i want to watch. Don't know why it happens it just does.
It doesn't bother my driving I have driven on trips half way across country with no problem.

Have you been checked for seizures? The head rolling makes me think it might be more than just ADD.

Sounds very much like "petit-mal" epilepsy.
Have it checked.

Barb, I have a short attention span too!! I walk into a room to get something and totally lose track of why I went in there in the first place. But Gabi has been diagnosed with ADHD. I thought she got that from me. I didnt know that there was a link with SB.
I think that they call what we suffer from "mommy brain"
Sorry to hijack the thread :)

It can't be "mommy brain" because I have it too and I'm not a mommy, I'm an uncle.
In my family its called "Alzheimers Lite":bluesbrothers:
