Donna,
Your baby's spine did not fully develop and not sure what type of Sb your baby will have. I am also from LA. You can go to www.sbango.org that is the local sb chapter It is located in New Orleans. Julie Johnston has a wealth of info and can help you so much. But any more questions just ask.

Hi, I'm Joy, mom to Elizabeth. She's 6 now with Spina Bifida. She's beautiful and loves life even though she has a disability. I have just recently read a book that I wish I would have read when I was pregnant: Living With Spina Bifida by Adrien Sandler. I strongly suggest you read this book. It has been such a big help to me.

hi, i'm new here also. i'm 19 weeks pregnant and learned yesterday that my baby has spina bifida. his, i'm not really sure what you call it opening maybe, is at L2. can anyone shed some light on what that means?
Yes, L2 is where the doctors *believe* that your child's opening will be. The spine is arranged from the c's at the top, then the t's, next the l's, and then the s's basically at the tailbone. An L2 is a fairly low level with a good prognosis. Docs are often wrong on these level guesstimates for ultrasounds so try not to get too caught up in the actual level yet.

By the way, boy or girl? and congrats on your baby :happy065:

Barb, do you have a larger version of the spine image - for the picture album?
No, It actually isn't even mine. If you click it it will take you to the source. It is a good picture though
Edit: OK, well I thought that it would click through and give credit to the original source and now I see it doesn't. I need to go find where I got it from and credit it.
