I just wanted to know if anyone elses kid with a programmable shunt has a mis-shappen head from over draining. Zoe's skull bones are all over lapping and her soft spot is slightly sunken. She had her shunt adjusted to slow down the flow but the today her nuerosergeon adjust the flow a little bit faster because the fluid was building up around her shunt too much instead of going through her shunt. He said its because her skin is thin and isnt creating a seal around the shunt. he said that once her skin thikens and creates that seal we will play with it to get it just right for her.

Yea my babys head isn't mis-shapen really but she does get that sunken in spot every once in a while....it comes and goes. They haven't slowed hers down yet, they will do that it like 2 weeks i think it is.We'll see what happens then.
C had a programmable and did not experience this. The syndrome you are describing is commonly referred to as slit ventricle syndrome. He has slit vents but never experienced the change of head shape you are describing.

Hannahs shunt is programmable as well and didn't get the overlapping bones but they did say it could happen because of over drainage but maybe since the adjusted hers at 3 weeks it prevented it???? idk....how is Zoe now?
