Hi!

I’m hoping there may be some visitors to this forum who would be interested in helping to develop the next generation of bladder / bowel continence care products….and earn some cash at the same time! If you think this could be you then please read on.

I’m seeking a small number of people who live with spina bifida and who regularly use continence care products, for bladder management, bowel management, or both.

This is a great opportunity to get your voice heard in the development of these products. All the process will involve is a short (approx 60 minute) interview where we’d like you to discuss your experiences of living with SB and using continence care products.

The interviews are discrete, confidential and undertaken in a professional manner. They will be completed over the next two weeks.

The work is being undertaken for a leading manufacturer of continence care products and they’re keen to understand exactly what it is their customers want. This is your chance to tell them!

Respondents must be over 18 and based in the US or UK. We’re particularly interested in those of you who use intermittent catheters, urisheaths (male external catheters), leg-bags and any type of bowel management solution such as suppositories, PAI, etc. We’re seeking both men and women for the project.

US interviews will be undertaken over the ‘phone, UK interviews will be face-to-face or over the ‘phone.

If you think you might be interested in taking part in this project and can spare an hour of your time over the next couple of weeks, please respond to me at nicki.sutton@strategyn.com.

You can find out more about Strategyn and how they have helped the world’s leading medical device companies develop new groundbreaking products here: http://www.strategyn.co.uk

All the best and I hope I might hear from some of you soon! :3a:

I'm no longer a user of pads etc as I have a continent diversion. As a South African I am outside your area but allow me a few comments:
The sound of "crinckling plastic" when moving is absolutely unacceptable.
I would be interested in a thin underpants insert for minor "post enema" fecal leakage. It must be secure enough not to bunch up and/or shift in my underpants and also wide enough, the ones I have seen and used are all too narrow!

For the record, I am a 40 year old male and a fulltime wheelchair user.

Hi Dodger67,

Thanks for taking the time to post those comments! It is exactly the sort of input we need for our research.

I've talked to a few people from different user groups (other SCI) and the issue of "crinkling plastic" hasn't arisen so it's very interesting to hear something new.

All the best!

I am not a user of the particular products you are looking for input on , however I was years ago involvolved in a market research / focus group regarding absorbent products. I hope I was helpful. I still wish I could find something that would not leak / and is not cumbersome.

Hi all,

Firstly, many thanks to those of you who have contacted me about this work. Your help really is appreciated.

Secondly, I'm still looking for three more people who would like to participate; 1 in the US and 2 in the UK.

Although I mentioned intermittent catheters and external catheters, I'm not exclusively interested in users of these products, so please don't be put off from contacting me if you don't use them.

All the best everyone!
