Has anyone else noticed this in their children? I have noticed recently our daughter has been doing this intermittently while eating or watching tv. I asked our peditrician and she said only to be concerned if it was happening all the time. She thought it seemed to be on par with thumb sucking or hair pulling.
Anyone ever hear or read about this? Her shunt seems to be working fine and has had no prior revisions and she is in good spirits with no outwards signs of sickness. A second opinion would be reassuring. Thanks!

I think she's going to be a rockstar! Maybe she just has a really good song in her head! I'm kidding of course...as long as she doesn't seem sick and the doc said she's okay I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe she's just jammin!

Leah does that but it's understandable for her she's only 3 months old however when I am feeding her shel likes to push her head back against my arm...it's kinda weird like it's helping her swallow or something? I don't know. I have asked people about it and they pretty much look at me like Im crazy! One of them said that is probably a comfort thing since her head was further back in utero due to the sb. I'm still clueless...But when im holding her and she really gets that head a bobbin I say to her are you dancin?? Because that's what it looks like to me!!
MY neighbour has a little 3 year old boy and he is constantly rocking his head. by the way he doesnt have sb. so it might not be a sb thing but something she likes doing

Grey also shakes his head like he is saying no. I honestly think that he likes to be dizzy. he'll shake his head and then stop and look around and laugh, then shake his had some more. It drives me CRAZY!

This is funny that you guys are mentioning it because Lyla constantly does the no head shake, it seems mainly when she's sleepy. Shes given herself a bald spot :) She doesnt have a shunt.... weird!

my two month old moves her head back and forth when she's on my chest or on her tummy on the floor. and it's constant. i have to hold her head still on my chest to stop it and then she'll settle and fall asleep. thankfully she falls asleep on her own in her bed but if i'm just snuggling with her on the couch she just keeps moving that head.
the first month or six weeks of her life she would tilt her head back quite a bit after eating and when in one of her chairs. i believe it's a chiari thing - she doesn't do well when her head drops to her chest -almost like she has trouble breathing and sometimes it makes her cough. also if she is being fed (she takes a bottle) in a position where her neck is tilted forward she will have trouble swallowing and at times cough/gag. this happened more when she was a newborn though. we changed feeding positions and she never did it again. also a chiari thing i believe.
