My Wife got her new wheelchair (an Invacare)about a month and a half ago and now the front casters are making some racket a dragging type of sound.First I thought the bearings but they're good and spin freely with no grinding.

The guy at the wheelchair store said sometimes the tyres (airless solid) can have some give on the wheel ? making noise in humid weather? Well it is humid here but I've never noticed this on any other of her chairs.I got a feeling he's wrong but I don't want to rip the thing apart yet either,it's brand new.

Any thoughts on this before I call them back and ask for new front casters.

Help Please & Thanks

Yea not normal. Are they just normal casters or frog legs? Is the chair power or manual? I'd definitely call them back.

Thanks Summer...
They're just the normal type casters on a manual wheelchair. This is the first time we've had casters this small though, man they're tiny.
Wheelchair guy suggested trying to get some talc worked in between the solid tyre and the wheel.I'll give that a go to see if it helps any but have a feeling I'll be calling the guy back later this afternoon to get the casters replaced.

I'm seriously allergic to the weeny rollerskate wheels! I go over a lot of rough ground so I selected 6" casters on the new lightweight rigid-frame chair I ordered this morning.

Lol Roger I hate the small ones too. I go up an inch to the 4in ones. They are a lot better then the 3in ones. I learned my lesson the hard way. Sorry I'm not much help Gymp. Maybe the actual casters are too small for the housing they are in.

We'll be getting new casters delivered on July 6
Hmmm,I measured the casters (tyre included) and they're 4 inches,so I guess they're not that tiny.

Thanks again Summer.
