we are traveling as I type to reuben's hospital app, and for some reason feel so down with everything. Reu is doing so well I have nothing to be worried about, but its a smack in the face and a reminder of what's happened in the last year and what we all will have to do in the future.
Any positive words from anyone to cheer me up?

Ah sorry your feeling this way.... Try and think of the positives... hospitals are part and parcel of this road but they wont always be bad visits.... try and keep your chin up make the most of the better visits and hope this one is one of them xxx

I hope you don't think i am crazy for saying this but I always looked forward to clinic visits and yes even the hospital stays were always made special by a very special nurse. Her name was Shirley Brown she was there when i had my back surgery (at 8 years old) and was so nice that we went to visit her everytime i went to clinic. The coolest thing was she was my son's nurse when he had his first surgery (tethered cord release) and i can't tell you what a comfort it was to know this woman would be taking care of my son. I am sure she is still there but haven't seen her in years. She made even the worst things barable, and a hospital stay plesant as possible.
Like Valerie says it is part of what life with SB is like. But there are some bright spots that can be found even at the hospital. Just make sure to keep your eyes open for them:)

Hugs, miss piggy. Appointments always get me down too. He's doing fabulous now though. Just hang onto that. :)

I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. Hospital visits must really take their toll on parents. Just try and remember how well Reuben is doing. There will be better days.

I'm glad you've cheered up a bit, it is exactly a roller coaster! Some days your feel like super mom and are thankful that God gave you this baby and you wouldn't have it any other way! Others you think theres been some mistake and wonder if you have what it takes, if you really are strong enough to face those appointments and you found out you are! ^.^
I read somewhere that SB parents have a hard time stepping back into hospitals after their baby has come home because it brings back all the anxieties and feelings during the sometimes EXTREMELY hard delivery and hospital stay, you have every right to get a little downtrodden! The news isn't always reassuring, its scary sometimes! Your keeping your head up and I'm sure little Reuben is proud of his mommy and he's definitely in good hands, =P
