What is the best way to get the hair that wraps around the small front tires out without taking the whole wheel assembly apart? TIA

I've never been able to do the whole job without taking the whole thing apart (but then again, I have waist length hair so the hairs are very long to begin with). But I find that a pair of really sharp scissors (barber's scissors if you can get them) really help the job along.

Thanks. Carter has really long hair too. It's nasty that stuff!

We used to get tons of hair from the cat in all four wheels of the wheelchair.I always took the wheels off to clean it out and while I was there I took apart the sealed bearings cleaned and repacked them with lithium grease.I'm amazed at how much hair gets wrapped around the wheel's axle.

I often wonder how much cat hair is accumulating in my computer keyboard and how it will be before it starts causing problems! And wow, the amount I vacuum up -- I can just imagine how it would mess up a wheel chair. And that's short hair.

I use tweezers to get the hair out of my tires. I have 5 cats so there is plenty of it. It doesn't take very long as it usually will tangle together when my tires roll.

Lisa i know what you mean about the cat hair in the computer. We have cleaned mine out twice and i couldn't believe there was that much in there and my computer didn't completly shut down! I vaccum every single day!, dust and brush my cats and they still shed like there is no tomorrow.

I saw a post on myspace from cesar milan "the dog whisperer" about saving what you brush off your animals and donating it to clean up the oil spil in the gulf. I haven't found the facts on that as I have been very busy with my friend who is in the hospital. I will try to get time to look tonight cause between what comes off my carpets and the cats alone i think i could give them a good supply.

Ain't that the truth!
The wife's computer just started shutting down about 5 minutes after boot up about 1 year after purchase.I had thought the CPU fan was dead so I opened it up and found the fan still spinning but was filled with cat hair.I removed the fan and then found the CPU heatsink was actually compacted full of more cat hair.I removed the heatsink and with an awl scrapped out the hair I could get at then blew the rest out with an air compressor, took apart the fan, cleaned that out, relubed then reassembled the whole thing back together.Booted it back up,Viola...no more shut downs,in fact it purrs like a kitten, lol.
My computers are in a room that the cat was never in so that's never been an issue but when I clean or maintain them I'll still find some cat hair in them, just not to the same extent as was with the wife's computer.

The cat used to love curling up beside the wifes computer during winter,I guess it was a warm cuddly place for her during those cold months.

Soon I'm going to the S.P.C.A and going to get a new kitten....There's been enough time since the passing of good ol' Izzy.
I think of her each and every time I mow the lawn when I walk over where she's buried....sigh...

I often have a cat on either side of the computer. Hmm. Guess I should just start vacuuming the keyboard (it's a laptop) every time I vacuum that room. And maybe I ought to vacuum that room more often. :)

Go buy yourself a can of Dust Off...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust-Off

Available at any computer type store
Hold your laptop on its side and aim the can of Dust Off at the keys and pull the trigger. That should get rid of any dust and cat hair.Put the crevice attachment thing on the end of your vacuum hose and vacuum the air vents of your laptop.
