Hey! I live in Jacksonville, Fl, so we are going to a sb clinic here in June. (nemours children's clinic) My son Chase was born 2-1-10 with sb L5-S1, hydro (VP shunt). I would also love to meet other parents. Where exactly do you live in Florida? When you go to the sb clinic, what kind of things will you be discussing, what questions will you be asking, etc? I know it is a couple of months away, but I want to make sure I am prepared, and can make the most of this appt. Also, is your little one doing any therapy, etc. So far, Chase is doing great- and no one has ever mentioned therapy, etc. to me. He doesn't have clubbed feet, but his feet are turned in quite a bit. He doesn't have bowel/bladder control, but I am not cathing him yet. We prayed for him so much before he was even born- I really believe God answered so many of our prayers for him. Let me know where you're at. I'd love to hear more about you and your little one. Have a wonderful day... Jill

Jill- I live in Tampa, FL but we have a house in Jasper, Fl which is 3 hours north so we pass by Jacksonville often! Chase is only a couple weeks older then Lyla :) I do need to start making a list of questions for the clinic but I guess my main concerns are about shunts, so far she has needed one and I wanna talk about how long they will moniter that till they decide she's in the safe zone, also we arent cathing right now so I have questions regarding her bladder and bowel control and I guess just their overall opinion of her abilities or lack of. Im very excited and cant wait to hear from them. So far she is doin so good! She is gonna start physical therapy in about 2 weeks when her casts come they know she is using her thigh muscles so they wanna build those up as strong as they can :) Id love to talk more details about our kids. do you have a facebook or an email? Send me a private message so we can exchange information :) Looking forward to it!

Just wanted to let you know. Be prepared to be there ALL DAY! Shriners Tampa is the slowest place on earth. There were several times I was there from 10am until 6pm. I however, haven't been there in years. So, it may have changed. I only went to the clinic once or twice and then switched over to ACH because it was a little faster and closer. I did see Dr. Guidera sp? there from almost the time I was born though. He is an interesting man...lol. Good luck!
I also live in Florida and I take my daughter to the SB Clinic at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. It is a wonderful place and I love the fact that I can call anytime and talk to a nurse that is so knowledgeable about SB anytime.
My daughter is 13 months ,L3-L4 and shunted. No cath so far. She has been casted for club feet and now wears shoes with a bar. I would love to make friends with some other FL moms.
