Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a cycle in fontanelle firmness with a shunt. It seems like every 3 days it gets quite firm, then sinks in (almost scary) deep. Is this normal?

I don't know about this, as I am the one with SB and my mother would have taken care of this kind of thing for me. I just noticed this post sitting here, saw you didn't get any replies, and decided to revive it. I never saw it when you first posted it. I hope you get some answers!

Jess&Madi:

For Lillys whole first year after birth her soft spot was definately deeper and bigger than any of my other kids. I always just figured it was because the hydro caused her skull to open up a bit more, it took a while but it filled in little by little. I dont remember any type of cycle with fullness or emptyness, but the position she was in did have an effect of how full it felt. Bring it up to your neurosurgeon and make sure they know how concerned you are about it.
