Well we recieved the news we knew was coming... Lyla needs a shunt. She is having surgery on Tuesday. Im nervous of course but very confident in her medical staff. They are amazing. They say she should be home by the next day so thats comforting to know. Also she recieved her 1st set of casts! They looks so cute on her little legs :) She will go every week to get them adjusted. So far everything is going smotthly considering... lol I just want this next surgery done and over with fast... I realize that she may encouter numerous surgeries in the future but I refuse to dwell on that. Its not that Im being ignorant I just want to enjoy every moment with her as a baby and not worry about if shes gonna walk or so many other things. Of course they are on my mind but I push them aside, I just love her so much and Im blessed to have her in my life regardless of the situations that may arise. I hope everyone is doin well and Ill let you know how the surgery goes.

I think you have a wonderful attitude - you're giving Lyla the best possible start to what we all hope will be a long and happy life!

Aawww, that's a pity, Lysette! But I agree, you have a wonderful attitude. I wish the surgery wasn't necessary, but I'm glad you have so much confidence in her medical team. I'm sure the operation will go smoothly and hopefully it will be the last for at least a long while. Good luck!

You are right-- just enjoy your baby and don't dwell on all the possibilities that can arise. Worrying does absolutely no good! Sometimes that's easier said than done.
My daughter didn't get her shunt until she was 3 months old. Just to encourage you, her surgery went very smoothly. She was only in the hospital for one night and I couldn't believe how quickly she recovered. Hope all goes well for your little Lyla!

I will keep you in my prayers for Tuesday. I know I was really nervous when Alex got his shunt but it was nothing like I imagined and he bounced back like it was nothing at all. Will be thinking of you both and pray that everything goes smoothly!!!

We will keep your family in our prayers. You have a very positive attitude and that is such a good thing. I know that when our little one had her first shunt surgery, she was 2 days old the first time, I got teary eyed in the recovery room. I was so thankful that it had went good, but she looked so helpless and pitiful. But she bounced back so fast it is amazing how strong a little baby is.

You do have a great attitude, and you are so much wiser than I was at your age. I don't think I appreciated the baby stage as much as I should have with my first baby (she's now 24!) I just love, love, love babies and that first year goes by so fast. You are absolutely right to just enjoy every little moment. Positive thoughts being sent your way. I'm sure Lyla will come through fine, especially with the great family she has rooting for her.
Great big hugs to you and Lyla! I hope everything goes smoothly and we can't wait to hear how she - and you! - are doing!
Love Krit xx:happy065:
