We have just had what i can only describe as the week from hell, On monday we noticed that cadon's fontanelle was intermittantly going hard so we took him to our local hospital. (BIG MISTAKE!!) They decided to keep him in for observation as he was showing no other symptons. After 3 whole wasted days they decieded to do an MRI and found his ventricles to be enlarged, it was only then that they contacted his neurosurgeon. Cadon was rushed by ambulance that evening and underwent his first revision, his shunt was totally blocked. During this revision he suffered a massive bleed on his brain and the dr's thought that they had flushed the clots out but a CT scan showed he still had a few floating about his head. Unfortunatly one of these clots got stuck in the catheter tube and cadon had a second revision the following day, he then spent the next three days vomiting due to low pressure symptons and small particles of blood irritating his meninges. He is now home and doing well but i just feel so angry that our local hospital did'nt take it seriously they kept insisting that he probably just had a virus as he looked so well. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to measure his head and find that it had increased by 2cm.:scream:

What a time of it ye had, it would just drive you crazy as they should always trust a mother as she knows when something isnt right. God love him, he has been through the mills hasnt he & ye too. How old is Candon again? 2cms, sometimes you wonder what the hell are they thinking.

Thanks for the messages everyone, cadon is doing well. looking at him today it's so hard to believe that he was so unwell this time last week. It's amazing how quickly they bounce back. I just wish that i could do the same as i'm now sleeping with one eye open just in case!! I have never been so scared, it's frightening how fast that they can go downhill and i am really greatful to his neurosurgeon for acting so quickly when it got blocked the second time round. I'm just praying now that this shunt lasts for a long time as i don't want to experience that again in a hurry.

So sorry to hear about the scare with Cadon, but am glad to hear he is doing good now. So scary how quickly things can change, but they're little fighters and are strong! Give him lots of kisses :) God bless Lacey P.S. my first son's name is Kaden ;)

I chose the name Cadon as it means 'spirit of battle' or 'little fighter' as i wanted a name for him that meant something! And that's just what he is. My other children are Connor,Kiera & keegan.

Ugh, I am sooo sorry! It's hard enough dealing with issues when they ARE handled correctly. I am so glad he's doing better. hang in there!
