I'm wondering if someone can help me understand what defines hydrocephalus. I understand that it involves more than the normal amount of CSF on the brain. I also know that it involves shunting to drain the CSF. If that always the case? Does it always involve an inability for the CSF to drain properly resulting in intercranial pressure? Is it considered hydrocephalus if it's larger than normal ventricles that do drain properly?

No worries. I think I found my answer. *blush*

Google! What would I do without it!

It was just the SBA info. I was hoping I could find info that might apply to my situation.

I ask because with all that has gone on with the genetic anomalies in my family...and there are many...I wondered about my youngest. She had an MRI at 6 days old because of the risk for ICH. Long story just let me know if you want to hear...I'm be happy to share. anyway, her MRI shower enlarged ventricles, and a 6mm lesion. A few other curious things were found on the MRI but nothing they could figure out a cause for. She was developmentally delayed, had low tone and had some tonal asymmetry, posturing on the right side. She's come a long way but we've noticed a mild dismorphia of her head. A right sided frontal bossing or protruding of the forehead. Our Ped (same one who disregarded Hannah's incontinence as behavioural) seems to think it's no big deal. She hasn't had any regression so I tend not to be too concerned but I do find it interesting. Our ped has agreed to do a follow up MRI so I want to learn all I can before hand. Make sense?

Please excuse me for nagging but "It was just the SBA info" is almost meaningless.

Which SBA are you referring to?
Where is the info? What we really want is the URL (web address) of the info.

Pushy aren't you Dodger! LOL

This is the link that I was thinking of right off the bat. Being Canadian it was my obvious first choice.
http://www.sbhac.ca/beta/
click on links, click on hydrocephalus links, click on hydrocephalus.org facts.

And this is the one that I found the most useful simply because it was the most straight forward with the least amount of link clicking.
