Hello everyone

Its been a couple months since I last posted anything on here. Sorry for that. We have been running a little crazy here in Germany since the twins were born. But they are doing great. Jack our boy is the one born with SB. He is doing exceptionally well. He and his sister were born on FEB 11th at the Erlangen University Childrens Hospital in Germany. He had his myelomeningocele operated on 12 hours after birth. It was 6 1/2 cm long by 6 cm wide. He was in the hospital for 33 days then came home for 7 and had to go have his shunt put it. Then he gave himself a hernia that had to be operated on shortly after the shunt. He has also had to have his pressure adjusted once. In a week we will all be moving from Germany to the state of Washington. Hopefully we will be able to meet a few of you there. Here are a few pictures of Jack and his sister.

Thank you

Scott

Hello! You children are adorable. What part of WA are you moving to? There is a chapter of the Spina Bifida Association in WA and it has several small groups around the state. We are in Salem, OR and also have a group here in OR.

Its great to hear that the twins are doing well. The first weeks/months of life with SB can be an extreme roller coaster ride but it will settle down soon.
We're always here if you need us, and even if you don't, just keep us posted anyway.

Scott,

Thank you so much for the update! I've often wondered how things turned out, but also knew that you had your hands full. Congratulations on the twins! Sounds like Jack is doing great, but has already been through a lot. What is his sister's name, by the way? They are adorable.

Good luck with the move -- I seem to recall that you chose Washington state b/c of the proximity of family. That will be great -glad the US Army is being cooperative.

Once you get settled in and have a chance, you & Heidi check back in with us! We're here when you need us.

Congrats on your twins. Love the outfits, they look like a little adorable couple, her in headband and him in his hat. You are brave people to move with babies. Sounds exhausting, best wishes for a smooth transition.

Congrats, they are gorgeous, you would forget how small & cute they can be as my son Cian is 11months and isnt a baby anymore, he is a toddler. Jack looks great, my son has myelo too & was about 5 x 6cms. he is doing very well at the moment also.

We just arrived in WA this weekend. We are living in Enumclaw WA. That would be very nice if you could let us know where to go

Hi Scott,
We too were stationed in Germany with the military. Our son was born 11-29-09 in a German hospital and was diagnosed after birth with spina bifida occulta and tethered cord. We were very pleased with the german doctors; however, we had a compassionate reassignment to Walter Reed Medical Center so our son could have surgery there. There is actually a ped-neurosurgeon, Dr. Moores, there. He is actually 1 of 2 in DOD. We were very pleased with him. His surgery went well and now we are in the wait and see period on the effects of the surgery. Anyway, I hope you an your twins are doing well. Good luck and many blessings.
